We all have a 24-hour internal clock that runs in the background of our brains that controls our ‘sleep/wake cycle’ – this cycle switches between sleepiness and alertness throughout the day and night.
Studies have shown that, for most adults, the biggest dips in energy happen between 2am and 4am, and again from 1pm to 3pm. This dip in energy can cause issues for those of us that work 9 – 5 jobs, because it can be difficult to motivate yourself to work hard when you feel tired.
Businesses recognise that employees need motivating during certain periods of the day, therefore they are changing the way they design offices to cater for the wellbeing of their workforce. Many businesses are creating ‘breakout areas’, where employees can get away from their computer screens, and others use bright colours that can generate a more positive working environment. Some companies at Blythe Valley Park, including PKF, Gymshark and Abbott, have taken this on board, and have created quirky and modern office spaces.

Autumn has begun and the days are becoming shorter. For some of us, this is a wonderful time – leaves are starting
to change colour, Christmas is drawing ever closer and we can enjoy those cosy nights in. However, many of us
struggle at this time of year, and don’t find the cooler weather or shorter days as enjoyable as others. Those of us who experience this may have a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. SAD is defined as ‘a depressive illnesscaused by shortened daylight hours and a lack of sunlight’ by The Seasonal Affective Disorder Association. Around 21% of the UK population experience some of the symptoms of SAD. It can be more commonly known as ‘Winter Blues’. We have looked into ways to tackle ‘seasonal affective disorder’ – download our document below and get some tips!
From 12th – 16th June 2017 is The British Nutrition Foundations Healthy Eating Week. One of the UK’s fastest-growing gym-wear brands has chosen IM Properties’ (IMP) Blythe Valley Park (BVP) as the home for its new global headquarters.
Gymshark was only founded by fitness fanatic Ben Francis five years ago with the help of some school friends, but was propelled from start-up status to global brand by an intense social media strategy – and products loved by workout enthusiasts and professional athletes alike.
With customers in over 170 countries and FY17 predicted annual sale of £42 mill, it’s the current holder of the Fast Track 100 award for Britain’s fastest-growing private enterprise.
Now Gymshark has outgrown its existing premises in Redditch and signed a 10-year lease for a 42,408 sq ft two-storey office on BVP, which is one of the largest lettings on the M42 Corridor in the past five years.
The letting is testament to the strength of BVP, which in the past six months has attracted two 15,000 sq ft prelets from Prologis and Rybrook Holdings and seen PKF Cooper Parry and Abbott Global both relocate to the park from outside of the borough.
Ecology works have now started on the phase two residential development land at Blythe Valley Park behind Virgin Gym. Due to the nature of the ecology works, can we please ask that country park users stick to using the formal or public footpaths when accessing the phase two land.

A huge thanks to Zenith for taking part in a volunteering gardening day at Marie Curie west midlands hospice as part of our sponsorship this year. We have had fantastic feedback from the CSR team at Zenith who said:
‘The staff involved found it a very rewarding day and really enjoyed the opportunity to help. The 2 gentleman that looked after us throughout the day were very informative and seemed to really enjoy the gardens and the work that they do at Marie Curie – we were in good hands for the day.
The gardens are really beautiful and there is obviously a lot of care and attention that goes into maintaining them to such a high standard by the team of volunteers. It was great to see how much is done at such little cost – such as planting plants from seed to either sell or use within the garden as well as the vegetable patches and the compost heaps used to recycle all the waste that the garden produces.
Some of the volunteers talked to people staying at the hospice who had their doors open to enjoy the gardens and the work being done definitely felt appreciated. It clearly makes their stay a more pleasant an experience when they have a nice view and some peace and quiet to enjoy.’
If you or your colleagues are interested in volunteering at the hospice, get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org
